Locations of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Dubai
DEWA has successfully established 300 charging stations for electric vehicles distributed in various locations across Dubai. Their precise locations can be identified by visiting the authority's smart application or through its website. Through these platforms, one can search for the locations of electric vehicle charging stations in Dubai by simply entering their current location. Fast charger stations are available at several locations, including:

Types of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Dubai
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has installed four types of charging stations, which are:
- High-Speed Charging Stations: Providing direct current with a power of 10 kilowatts.
- Fast Chargers: Providing alternating current with a power of 43 kilowatts and direct current with a power of 50 kilowatts. This charger can complete 80% of the charging process in just 20 to 40 minutes.
- Public Chargers: Two plugs with alternating current with a power of 22 kilowatts. Charging can be completed within 2 to 4 hours depending on the type of car and its battery capacity.
- Wall Chargers: Alternating current with a power of 22 kilowatts. Charging can be completed within 2 to 4 hours depending on the type of car and its battery capacity.
Green Charger Card
The Green Charger Card can be obtained by registering with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. This card allows its holders to use electric vehicle charging stations in Dubai. An exclusive account must be created through the Green Charger Card services on the authority's website or through its dedicated smart application. The card will be delivered to the registered location within 3 days from the registration date.
Documents Required for Registering for the Green Charger Card
Vehicles Registered Outside Dubai:
- Emirates ID or passport copy for investors or citizens of GCC countries.
- Vehicle registration card for individuals.
- Trade license and vehicle registration for businesses.
- Government vehicle registration for government entities.
Vehicles Registered within the Emirate
No documents are required as they are provided by the authority through integration with the Roads and Transport Authority.

- Individuals: Free until December 31, 2021.
- Businesses: AED 500.
- Government: Exempt from insurance fees.
Connection Fees

Operating Times of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Dubai
Distributed charging stations at fuel stations and public places operate 24/7, while green charger stations located at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's Happiness Centers operate seven days a week from 7:30 AM to 12:00 midnight.
Cost of Using Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Dubai
The cost of charging an electric vehicle depends on the electrical energy required to charge the car battery. It's worth mentioning that before September 2017, the cost of charging electric vehicles at public charging stations was 29 fils per kilowatt-hour, which is a huge saving compared to conventional fuel-powered vehicles.
The authority announced free charging for owners of electric vehicles registered in the Green Charger initiative from September 1, 2017, until December 31, 2019, to encourage the public to use electric vehicles in Dubai. Later, the period of free charging was extended until December 31, 2021, to include charging stations at fuel stations and public places excluding home charging stations.

Electric vehicle charging devices are installed in homes near the property's electricity meter, and the electricity used in the charging process is added to the household electricity bill at the same residential consumption tariff.
